No....that's not right ! :XD:
I just got that lens yesterday from Adorama. I pre-ordered it. I set up my DataColor SpyderLensCal to see if the focusing needs fine tuning on my D7000. That looks good. The focusing accuracy is the same as my other Nikon lenses. I'm impressed with it so far. It has excellent build quality. No looseness anywhere. It balances great on my D7000. I have the 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6 also. It's almost exactly the same weight and length but larger in diameter. I like that the lens hood has a spring-loaded button to lock and unlock it in place instead of just the plastic fingers that are forced to click into place when you attach the hood. It has a couple of new features - an electronically controlled aperture and a tripod VR mode that compensates for small vibrations. Since it has the electronically controlled aperture it's not compatible with all Nikon DX cameras. Here are the Nikon DX cameras that it's compatible with: D300, D300s, D7000, D7100, D7200, D5500, D5300, D5200, D5100, D5000, D3300, D3200, D3100. You'll love it if you get one. The 24-120mm is much heavier and doesn't balance well on a DX camera. With the 16-80mm you'll have the larger f/2.8-4 maximum aperture as well.
CO, You have hit upon every point in my pondering.
The specifications had my attention but your response has pushed me beyond any doubt. This will be a terrific compliment to my wife's 7100 & 5000 bodies.
Thank you.

Sounds like a wonderful lens. Ken Rockwell has a nice review and some suggestions.
