This is how it would have looked a couple of hundred years ago, Dover Castle, Kent, UK

Hopefully you have taken the laundry down by now ;)

A breakfast nook and some granite counters would add resale. Recessed lighting might be a problem.

The Boar's head looks a little too well done for my liking.

Great shot, it's amazing to think that a kitchen like that was once cutting edge technology.

I expect it can still turn out some fabulous meals with the right pilot flying!

Yes... I would update it. I look at it and all I see is BUGS.

The tablecloth is a nice touch, for 200 years ago. :-)

Surely you can see the mortar and pestle, in go the bugs and out comes printing ink. Gotta save some money for the granite surfaces.

A little problematic, the outside walls are twenty feet thick at this level.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. A splotch of paint for the walls, maybe a colorful new dishtowel or two ought to be all that's needed to keep the missus happy.

Or if you really want to go all out, how about a comely new serving wench? They really brighten up the place around here...

Great shot, and quite interesting to see.

The missus says she is the comely serving wench.

Looks pretty functional to me! I'm in the "if it ain't broke" camp.
LOL

Nice view into history. The Google machine tells me that it's the largest castle in England. And a very visually appealing one.
