I was working in the yard again (03-29-2012) and saw these tiny bugs on a small twig of a limb on a Globeflower bush... at first it looked like they were fighting... they weren't. I ran inside and grabbed my camera and went back outside thinking that they would be gone but they were still there. I took these handheld photos with the wind blowing. I don't have a macro lens but I have had some success at photographing some insects with my 24-70mm and even my 70-200mm lens. Unfortunately these were not as clear as I had hope but better luck next time. I should have got my tripod but I didn't have the time... also the wind was blowing the limb back and forth.
P.S. I also added some photos that I took on 03-28-2012 on the same Globeflower bush...

crank up that shutter speed for windy shots like this,i was shooting a spider in wind so strong he was blowen out of view back and force back and force i got him though with a high shutter speed i can post if you would like.
you did stomp them I hope.
Uh,,, looks like bug porn to me.
Yes I could have cranked up the speed but I didn't want to go too high on ISO or too much grain would result. Since I don't have a macro lens I have to crop a lot and with high ISO there is way too much grain when you crop a lot. Also it was low light in a well shaded area with spoty sun light patches.
Also, it wasn't the shutter speed but it was the narrow depth of field on the focusing. The movement back-and-forth changed the critical focus/depth of field. Thanks for the info anyway.

Go ahead and add any photos that you took... the same goes for everyone else... add your insect photos.

I caught this one creating a burrow in my flower bed last year.
Busy bugger
Admiring her work?
Has the photo been cropped? If not blow it up a little and see if it stays clear. Nice shot. Those pinchers look mean!

Yes, I cropped the photos. The one that isn't so clear was picked because she has a clump of dirt that she is bringing out of the hole.
