Neither sun nor heat nor air so thick you cannot breathe shall stay an Ugly Hedgehog from a photo op. Especially when its right outside the front door.

I hope I haven't jumped in here before you've had time to post all your shots, Sherry. Looks like your lantana is still calling them in. These shots are just beautiful! Your dragon is a Slaty Skimmer female. And you are so right about the heat and humidity. Almost unbearable.

Thanks for looking and for your kind words, Donna. The butterfly showed up around high noon and most of the shots I got were terribly overexposed. When I ventured back out in late afternoon, no butters showed up but the dragon did. I was okay with that. Thanks for correcting my ID. I can see the obvious difference in the wing pattern - I should have paid more attention!

Thanks for looking and for the  s, HOT. Oh man, it is summer in the deep south! Don't like cold, either. If it weren't for the weather, I wouldn't have anything to complain about. .... Heck, who am I trying to kid? I'd find something!

I know what you mean about over exposure, Sherry. It's hard to shoot anything in harsh light or dappled light. The worse ones for me are the dark ones in any light unless the sun is directly on them. I've been trying to use a fill flash, but that's even harder. BTW, we found a great place to practice on BIFs, or rather Terns in flight in this case. I can't remember the name of it, but it's the little park within walking distance of the DI bridge. It's on the left going south on DIP. The park has been there for years, but they've recently started doing some work on it.

That would be Bay Front Park. I've driven there a few times (not for several months though) looking for photo ops. I'll have to go check out the improvements. July 4th of last year on a last minute whim, we drove there to see if we could see any fireworks. Arrived pretty much at the end of things, but they were all very distant anyway. But, you could see Mobile's, DI's, and some across the bay (maybe Point Clear?). The upside was there were no crowds!

It is a nice little place that few seem to know about. There is a very short boardwalk on the south side - are they expanding that?

And by the way, your "walks" are my "hikes".

A lot of times this time of year with the harsh lighting I will put on a CP filter, it really helps.

Thanks, HOT. I do have some filters - I don't know why I never think to use them.

That's it, and there were hardly any people there but us yesterday, but of course the skeeters arrived right before sunset. They do seem to be expanding the boardwalk, and they had part of it roped off for repairs. The marshy area it goes through is very pretty.

Thanks so much, Johnny. Like Sherry, I have a CP filter and forget to use it. Do you use one for your flower shots?

You have me itching to revisit the place. Many times I have thought about going there to catch the sunrise - but sunrise comes soooo soon after bedtime!

And especially so if you're a night owl like us. The sunrise would be beautiful over the bay, and the sunset was beautiful on the opposite side over the reeds. I'm anxious to go back.
