I couldn't get a good side shot of this nervous little hopper. It would move every time I moved so I tried a short stack. 4 frames with Tamron 180+1.4x tc.

Is it just me or is this photo grainy to the point the detail is lost on download version? I have a hard time getting good details on these guys with a single shot...

Yes, you're right. When I looked at the finished stack, the eye looked pretty good, so I went with it. I also downsized way too much. And yes, you're correct about even a single image not looking real sharp. I think the scales or hairs are so fine & matted that a really sharp image may be impossible at low a magnification. It might be interesting to investigate further.
