Political correctness impact on children

I took my Neice for a slice of pizza the other day, she is 12. Having sat down near the TV, CNN had an interesting story on while music was also playing from a nearby speaker from the ceiling. I said that they should play one or the other because the two are too loud and you cant hear either one properly . I also said that I didn't like the music ( it was rap style music ) to which she asked if I were prejudiced against Black people. I asked her immediately how did she assume the singers were in fact Black, and she then said that she must be a racist to make such an observation. She actually questioned her own senses.
Surely political correctness has plunged a good amount of our kids thinking into needless introspection and this entire obsession with language and perceptions and how it relates to racial ideas are causing further racial tensions brought on by the ignorance of liberal progressives.
When I was 12 we interacted with people of all races and religions but now healthy interaction has been replaced with " thought guidelines ". What is happening to our culture ? And what impact is this having on our kids ? Personally I think this " structured thought " and " thinking guidelines " are counterproductive . Thought and interaction develops a persons personality, likes , dislikes, etc. Having your thoughts shaped by a " playbook " are replacing healthy emotional growth with scripted reaction.
I thought I'd mention this here because I was actually saddened by the fact that a comment about music could set off so many thoughts and judgements in a 12 year olds head. I'm sure she isn't the only one.

Wished I had the answer. Now, it's in the news that "husband" and "wife" is maybe going to be deleted in Gov. papers.

Sad? Yes indeed.

Interesting, your niece's own (mild) prejudice there. I agree, I'm not a Rap music fan either. But not all Rappers are Black. There also are White, Hispanic, and Asian ones. Personally, I love Jazz, Soul, and Blues that too can be considered other forms of "Black Music." By her mis-logic, a fan of only Classical Music would be a racist. Sadly she is a product of her environment, times and peers. Hopefully she has the wisdom and smarts to see through the BS and think for herself.

PC is nothing more than mind control issued by the liberals to promote their agendas. It is not a right wing promotion. Show me one example of where the right wing uses it.

Perhaps PC was initially an innocent attempt to try to negate old prejudiced leanings and stereotypes. But in reality it was an over correction , and now it is a prejudicial tool in itself. We can never erase bias or nor should we, unless we want to build a society of robots with rules on how to think set by an elite few.
It's been tried a few times throughout history and the results are always the same , a complete disaster .
PC is more than a flawed concept , it's a way to control the masses for the purpose of power . History does repeat itself , but we never seem to learn from it.

Dad said when obama was elected "you haven't even heard about racism compared to how much you'll hear in the next several years." He proved to be soooo right.

A great book. Also, Animal Farm. (Liberals are the pigs.)

a 12 year old thinks like that... I would blame the parents... why not have a talk with your sibling on how they are raising the next generation?

yes, because we depend on the school system to not only teach us about the world and how to function in society, but also... we depend on our schools to teach personal integrity, morals, manners and all the other important stuff that parents are too busy to teach their children, today.

PC if you study the history was started in the 50's to indoctrinate those that did not agree with the Communist ideas. And the left has picked up on that to get people to work towards the NWO. So we and our children are being slowly indoctrinated against a free enterprise system. Just like the racist card is used time and time again with no justification. Did anyone say bigot, homophobe. It is so slanted that one is afraid to speak out against what it really is.
