Fly and caterpillar

From a walk today. I think this is the caterpillar of The Herald moth.

Nice pics. I especially like the fly. I am not that familiar with insects in the UK. It looks a lot like a flesh fly.

Had a look online at Sarcophagidae and agree that it could well be from that group. Thanks for looking and for your comment, much appreciated.

I doubt that this is a Herald moth larva, or any lepidoptra caterpillar.
Sawflies are the odd cousins of the Hymenopter order (Ants, Bees, and Wasps) who have a caterpillar-like larval stage that feeds on host plants, though some are parasites on beetle larva. The adults are wasp like in appearance and it's this unusual larval stage among a few other things that separates them from wasps.
