After no blooms in two years, finally got a first bloom. There are now 5 more starting to bloom.
Just curious. Where do you live that you had no plumeria blooms for 2 years? Here on the west side ("leeward" side) of island of Hawaii we have plumeria blooms of various flavors all year around. Some loose their leaves in winter and start blooming again in the spring. Others bloom continuously but they don't have that magical scent.
I am in a Los Angeles, California suburb. Last year I didn't feed and water the plants properly. This year, learned a little more about them and got better results.
Hmmm. Interesting. Plumeria are desert plants and adapt quite well to low water conditions. e.g. their waxy flowers, leaves, and stems retain moisture very well. At first I watered all my plumeria with drip irrigation and they grew fast but weren't terribly durable. Of course, we have thin dirt since lava underlies everything here so the systematic watering seemed good for them but their root systems were weakened since they didn't have to dig into the cracks in the lava to find moisture. You may already know this but no one buys plumeria because they can be grown so readily from clippings. In fact, I had some plumeria that broke off at the base of their brance and before I knew it the fallen limbs had rooted and were growing new plants. Good luck with yours.
Wow! This is such a beautiful shot, Ted! Very well done!
