Wow, David Pogue just reviewed this camera on Yahoo!
http://www.yahoo.com/tech/sonys-new-pocket-cam-is-great-but-is-it-worth-123758419009.htmlThis is almost too good to believe. I certainly don't need another camera, but I can feel a GAS attack coming on...
Tommi - DPREVIEW.com just posted a First Impressions review of the RX100 Mk IV
This was super interesting - thanks!
Most of the added features they added to the Mark4 have little if any usefulness to most users. As yet, I see no reason to upgrade to the M4 over the M3. I agree that the new and novel sensor has some appeal and has to be proved and the addition of the electronic shutter has advantages for faster focus and burst rates though. And, if you're really a "SELFIE" type of person, you're probably going to use your smartphone camera for that use anyway since the resolution of "selfies" is quite low for FB or internet posting anyway.
But for the additional $200 over the M3, I feel no GAS attack coming on.
I also wish they had included a means to trigger an external flash either with the WiFi or some connection to utilize one since the hot show has been eliminated since the introduction of the M3.
JMHO
I have the Mark iii and think I'll stick with it.

Yes. It's David Pogue. He went nuts when the first RX100 came out.
Lots of info here. There's a substantial price increase over the III, which wasn't bargain basement. Nikon and Canon tend to keep the pricing about the same as updates are introduced.
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sony-cybershot-dsc-rx100-ivI think it's funny that Sony is bringing us a better sensor by copying cell phone sensors. Well, whatever works. It's interesting that it can shoot stills while shooting video because that is a feature of their camcorders.
EDIT: David Pogue's last paragraph says it all for me. I'll stick with my III.
Travelwp how did you get this camera. It's release is in a week?I ordered the RX10 II. I have 2 RX100 and they are superb. And the super a7s with lens. But couldn't resist 4k, Slow Motion even with some resolution loss looks good. ND filter 24mm to 200mm zeiss lens. Yes it is called a bridge camera. Sealed for weather and the stacked sensor looks be a brilliant move. The RX10 can go anywhere and do everything. Good luck.
I was so interested in slow motion almost bought the FS700.
Too expensive can get shooter with this camera for day shoot.
Sorry don't know what happened my reply to Singleviking did not come up.
But I still have the original model - so there are many cool features I'm excited about... like a VIEWFINDER -- woo hoo. And I have the Lumix with the Selfie mode and I use the heck out of it. So I end up having to carry both cameras! The RX100 and the Lumix!!

I think B & H and Amazon have had them for about 2 weeks now.
I have been on the wait list for B&H & Amazon.
Patience is a virtue. It will come soon.
