I just bought a Sony a6000. Does anyone have any experience with the Sony 18-200 3.5 lens?

I have the Tamron version of it. (they are reputed to be the same lens) The IQ is good, but there are better lenses, specifically the "G" glass Sony lenses. My problem with my copy is that in any inclement weather, it stops auto focusing. I should send it back to Tamron, as I think it does not seal adequately to the camera body. I also have an 18-105 "G" Sony lens that is magnificent. Every shot with this lens looks great. It is also a power zoom, so the videos are done professionally. You need to get a lens other than the 16-50 or 18-55 kit lens in order to really get the best out of the camera.

Hey number 7 I have the canon flavor of that lens. It's my walk around. Pretty good actually, but it's slow and lens creep is annoying, but the lens band helps a lot. I have many tack sharp photos.

I have the Sony. There are two versions and each has adherents. I have the newer, all black, version. It is my travel lens and I like it as such. There is barrel distortion at 18, but I knew there would be when I bought it. My main worry when I bought it was that I would not like the balance when it was on the NEX7; I find the balance is fine and the combination feels fine in my hand.

Any zoom with range like this will have trade-offs. I have found them to be acceptable. It's a fine lens and I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

I have the Silver one, the SEL 18-200. There is also a less expensive one with specs that aren't as good.

I have really good results with this lens. The stabilization is real good. You can look thru the EVF and see all the bouncing around. Then depress the shutter half way and see it stop bouncing around.

I find the lens is quite sharp. It doesn't match my 24-70 f2.8 on my full frame, but its not far behind.

It is actually quite a large lens for the small A6000 body. I have the 16-50 kit lens and I will put that one on when I don't want to stand out.

Boils down to its a really good lens for the A6000.

Is it the newer, slimmer LE version or the older "fatso" model?

It is not the LE version, which I hear, is not as sharp. It is the fatso version.

I bought a used one from KEH in mint condition and it is my main lens now. I only remove it if I want to be more inconspicuous. The kit 16-50mm is very small. But this one is obvious that you are toting a camera.

I think I Am sold on "old fatso" most users think it is better. Does kind of look like a 300 pound woman in a bikini when mounted on an A6000 body
