uploading photos

OK, I tried 4x last night to upload some shots from an engagement shoot. (fun one, at a convent, and the bride is a former nun)

I tried doing 3 on one post, then all 3 on different posts, every time the operation failed. (I did NOT hit preview)

Anyway, I thought, "hey, I will contact the section administrator"....then, I realized that I am the section administrator.

Long story longer, has anyone had issues posting, or have you heard of anything wonky going on with the servers? The messages kept saying the "server was reset" or something like that.

Anyway, once I get the upload stuff figured out, I will post them. I think that would be better than just describing the photos :-)

Every time that has happened to me has been because the file size was too large (I think 10 meg is max) or because I forgot to convert my raw files to JPEGs.

I've gone as high as 14 meg, but without the (store original) checked. If you doing several large files on one upload, it is most likely timing out.

I didn't check "store original" but I never considered that the files were too large. Some of my finished jpegs are 19egs.

I will resize and try again. Thanks.

There's DEFINITELY a size problem with uploads. I've often resorted to saving the same pic at a lower resolution level in order to get them up. At best, I'm able to load only one pic at a time, then add others singly with the 'add attachment' button.

Maybe it's time for ADMIN to address this issue. Or not.

I'm guessing that when UHH was set up, 2mb file sizes were pretty common. It's easy for mine to be 20mb now.

Unfortunately, I can tell you with my website, bandwidth can be an issue, and I can only imagine how much bandwidth that something like UHH can eat up. It may just need to have limits to keep everything manageable.

I have more prints to order tonight, but then I think I should have time (no shoots until Thursday) to resize and upload.

I guess I'll find out soon if the problem is large file size, or just the nut behind the computer..
