Color, contrast and exposure look very good. Don't know if you are using autofocus or not but the focus point is definitely not on the subject in the 2 bird pictures. The rose stamen is very sharp. Maybe a little smaller f/stop to increase DOF and manual or spot focus on the eyes.

Are these hand held or tripod mount? If on tripod, is VC off? I have this lens too and it's much heavier than what you're used to, therefore a steady hand shooting is harder to achieve.
Other than those unknowns, I'd have to agree with what SonyA580 said.
Thanks for looking and commenting Grnway. Yes they were taken on a tripod. The lens is heavier than I thought, too. It is hard to hand hold.
