It seems counterintuitive that law enforcement would be advocating decreasing security.

Are they nuts? The internet is too vulnerable as it is.

You have to ask? I'm surprised they still let us lock our homes and cars.

Of course they want less security...that way they can spy to their hearts' content, with no blocks to stop them.

Law enforcement objectives are not based on the protection of any particular individual, they are playing the percentages. In fact… well read this: http://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/28/politics/justices-rule-police-do-not-have-a-constitutional-duty-to-protect-someone.html?_r=0

You saw this in Baltimore. where the businesses and people within a perimeter were left to their own devices, the criminals were allowed free reign in this area. The major let it slip that they are "free to destroy"- then she recanted this- even said that wasn't what she said. It has since come out that that her statement was in fact the truth, the police were instructed to "stand down" - she just wasn't supposed to say it out loud!

Law enforcement considers this acceptable losses and a success because they kept it contained. You saw it in the LA riots, where they pulled out. Funny thing, i remember the news back then showed people defending their businesses by patrolling the roofs of their businesses with weapons- then called them vigilantes like it was some sort of bad thing!! Vigilantes??? The police pulled out! There was no one to help them!

Also seen after Katrina, and Ferguson.

Know that most business are not covered in case of riot, and in fact, take day to day losses on the chin, they can't afford it. So these people were protecting their life savings and the ability to feed their and their employees families. Defending yourself is a human right by birth and recognized by the constitution as something the government can't prevent you from doing. .

So it makes perfect sense they they are willing to trade your personal information as long as they can protect the majority. You are left on your own, they don't really care that you might become a statistic. You are like the slowest of the herd when being chased by wolves… only in this case, by luck of the draw or bad luck… having a web address that can be hacked or a home on the wrong street, etc , etc.

Make you feel all warn and fuzzy to leave your protection up to your loving big brother government??
