http://www.amazon.co.uk/Compatible-Expression-Premium-XP-610-Cartridges/dp/B00FRKEXA6 Full set for around $10 for all 5 there are offers for 3 sets for around $15 you should be able to change .co.uk to .com for amazon usa.
their xl carts too.
its unusual for photo paper to curl like that, maybe there is an adjustment for thicker papers on that printer, it would be in the manual.
I don't know that printer but many have a second feed tray, sometimes used for envelopes, possibly using that might work. Again the manual will help. If you can't find it, then epson would have a pdf copy available on their websites.

If you are living in a humid environment, moisture can curl paper if not stored properly. If you keep the paper in the printer for long periods of time that can lead to curling also. Store the paper in the original package and place a book over the pachage to keep the paper flat. Thats what I do, never had a problem. Many say to only use OEM ink, but I just bought ink from Ink Farm. Can't tell the difference between canon ink.
I tried Kodak paper once, didn't like it. I'd say try a different paper and see what happens. As for ink, I have always used manufacturer's ink. But recently I found some after market ink and got some for my iP100 Canon printer. I've heard all the horror stories about after market ink and have always believed ink was to inexpensive not to use the manufacturer's in. Well the color cartridge for my iP100 cost's about $21 vrs about $8 for after market. I don't use it in my 13" printer, if this experiment fails, the iP100 is by far the less expensive printer to replace.
I have no idea about your printer, I think you said Epson and assume it's an 8 1/2" printer. How expensive was it? if it was inexpensive enough, I'd give after market ink a shot. To many extremely inexpensive printer's out there, easy to replace. I don't know the cost of ink for your printer but if the color is all in one tank, yep they get expensive because you need to replace them because one color run's out meaning you waste all the ink left in the other color's.
I just looked on Ink Farm's web site and it looks like you have individual tank's of ink. Here's Ink Farm's web site with the XP610 being shown. A bit under $8 a cartridge. On B&H it looks like your paying about $13 per color tank?

Keep paper in container. Store in dry place. Try keeping in Freezer
For ink:
http://www.inkfarm.com
If you go to the link and look under specs, you'll see what Epson papers are suggested for your printer.
I'll bet the sample paper with the printer didn't hang up.
By using their paper and telling your printer what you have chosen. The printer can make adjustments for that paper via an imbedded profile. Which can make your first print look better.
Overtime, as your printing skills improve and you learn to control the many other factors that are required in inkjet printing.
You should have less ink waste.
I would question the longevity of third party inks used for photos with a low-end printer.

If this is working for you great. But I know several people, myself included, who were not as fortunate. I ruined two printers by using non-Epson ink. My recommendation is don't do it. Shop around. I get Epson ink on Amazon for the same price, or less, than the knock off brands. I'm sure someone is already thinking "how do you know it's REAL Epson ink?". Geeze, don't even go there. Like I said, shop around and use Epson ink.

Third party inks can vary in quality this is true. With amazon at least there is customer feedback on the ink.
if you looked at the price of the printer its $80 so with third party ink 3 sets of cartridges would cover the cost of the printer wouldn't it?
what will kill a printer even with genuine epson branded ink is not using the printer frequently enough.
Do the math, with the cost of the printer being so low, the savings in ink costs makes it economical to throw the printer out after 3 sets of cartridges. Working printer or not.
I only use inkjets for photography for text I use a monochrome lazer printer some print jobs i use both.

I'm sure you know that printers can cost far more than $80.00, especially those that are capable of producing a high quality photograph. Perhaps you are only trying to make a point. If not, consider the true cost of disposing each of those $80.00 printers. Out of sight, out of mind? The amount of "electronic junk" created every single day is an environmental disaster growing exponentially. I'm not some sort of environmental nutcase, I just happen to know that this is true.

Yes disposing of printers can be a disaster, however there is the WEEE directive here, it is a legal requirement for electronic waste.
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
The WEEE Directive requires producers to be responsible for the financing of the collection, treatment, recovery and environmentally sound disposal of WEEE from 13 August 2005. It means that final users of such household WEEE are entitled to leave that waste back free of charge, either to retail outlets in instances where a replacement item is purchased, or other authorised collection points, including local authority civic amenity sites, from that date onwards.
With a high end printer, it is probably best to use the recommended ink.
There is a higher investment in a good quality printer.
It depends on the printer, with the cheap printer, you can put the money saved on ink aside and save that towards a better quality replacement.

Like I said, for you it's out of sight, out of mind. What do think happens to the WEEE crap after you drop it off at BestBuy? It goes to landfills in third world countries. As long as it's not your backyard, right? Get a clue.

There is no bestbuy in Ireland
http://www.weeeireland.ie/2015/weee-ireland-recycling-since-2005/ Some countries do more than just landfill.
Thank you, I'm very happy to hear that. There is very little accountability in the U.S.
A bit off the subject, but everyone I know was ecstatic upon learning the outcome of the recent vote in your country. Your beliefs are none of my business, and I respect them whatever they may be. My own belief is that it was an extremely bold act and the right thing to do. Thank you for listening and I wish you well.

Unable to help with paper problem.
I solved my printer ink problem when I purchased an Epson printer with CIS installed; has 5 refillable 2 oz. bottles outside end of printer. Contact Cobra Ink Service, good company.
