Been here a lot; they keep adding new space for all their collections, hard to step back and get everything in focus still with ALL their pieces.
The 'tail-feathers' shot is off one of my all time favorite jets, the MD F4, in all its variants. This came off a F4C, credited with 2 mig kills in VietNam. When I was an AF brat and got the chance to see them up close, I always admired the metal work around the cones.
The 'plumbing' shot is off an actual SR-71 engine, lowered off the actual jet in a dolly. It's amazing all the wires and pipes for a jet conceived many years ago.
(Of course, many know that the real attraction here at the museum is Howard Hughes' Spruce Goose). You can't get a complete picture of it, it is so big that you run out of room trying to back up to get it)
