SX50.

The humble little SX50 never ceases to amaze me with its capabilities. These shots were hand held at maximum optical zoom (1200mm equiv.) at sundown. The boat was trawling a considerable distance off shore & was not much more than a speck in the viewfinder. Please download for a better look.

I agree, Earl. Amazing shot, and I ask again. Why are we wasting so much $ on photo equipment when all we need is the SX50? :-D

I often ask myself the same question, Donna, lol. I have 3 DSLRs & 11 lenses, but none of them could have produced this result. I never leave home without my little SX50. :-)

I agree. I purchased a Nikon L series and the zoom is greater than my 300mm.

I've learned much... looking @ this site.. today somehow I started to search for boats at sea fishing "Sustainable Tuna Troll fishing" 1900's..... found what I was looking for... Worked on Albacore fish boats after discharge from Navy = SDiego = 1959.

What an experience.... lived on the end of a "sea anchor" 20 day trips, 100 to 250 miles west of SDiego... "U followed the Albacore."

Great capture on these boats. I would crop off some of the wasted space in the sky and make a wider format picture. David
