I recently purchasaed Lightroom 6. I am having trouble finding them on windows 8.1 to put up on here. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Windows Vista was a lot easier to work with.

I assume you are talking about pictures to upload - Best practice might be to simply export the images from lightroom to a folder on your hard drive.... then upload from that folder, then delete the files that have been uploaded. That way your image library never gets corrupted.

This way you can also resize them if needed during the export, for example, my originals are 6000x4000 raw, but I resize to 3000x2000 jpg files for publishing on Flickr and uploading to UHH.

Before you go monkeying around with the images in your Lightroom Library, you might want to take some time to understand how Lightroom works so you do not end up messing up your photo library.

Win8 definitely takes some practice. I got a little $10 program, StarDock, that restores the Start button and makes it work more like Vista/7.

Back in March, a friend told me about Classic Shell. It's a free download that allows you to emulate the Windows 7 startup. It has worked flawlessly on my laptop.

Download and install Classic Shell which converts 8.1 to Windows 7. Be sure and download from the main source to avoid having alot of junk installed on your computer. Classic Shell is free. Merritt

In Win7, clicking the button in the lower-left corner would produce a menu from which to select the application desired. In Win8, it works the same way, except you get an entire screen with tiles of all your applications. Other than this, there isn't THAT much difference.

I hated those tiles. I felt like I was using a kindergarten computer. Good riddance!

Of course, I started using computers when they had a black screen and a blinking line.

As Shutered said, right click the icon in the lower left corner. I recently upgraded from Vista to 8.1. After the first few days I was starting to have fond memories of Windows 3.1! I have it fairly well figured out now but I am still not impressed. Fortunately, Dell included a free upgrade to Windows 10 when it comes out later this month. It is supposed to be much more user friendly then 8.1, according to reviews from the beta testers.

Windows 10 comes with the Start button restored. I recently took the time to organize my start screen. There are a lot of Utube videos on this subject, as well as LR. Now you know what I like...lol..
