I have never used a preset on a camera to take anything, let alone fireworks. Yesterday I decided I was not going to get anywhere near where I wanted to be so I decide I would settle for a spot and try out the Fireworks preset in my Oly OMD E-M5. I used a tripod, of course, but mounted my Lumix Leica 14-50mm f2.8 since I would be focusing manually anyway. I used a two second delay on the shutter as I don't have a remote. The preset took care of everything else. I recorded in RAW and found that the white balance was off. I fixed that in PSCC as well as a few other levels. This was probably the best shot, taken from the Riverwalk at about East 75th Street. The Queensboro Bridge is in the foreground.
Curious, what was your ISO setting?
That's one time a preset work great just as advertised. Great timing on your two second delay ...... you caught those bursts in full bloom. I'm glad to see you incorporated the cityscape as it gives great context. Would that the bridge hadn't been in the way ......

ISO is set by the Fireworks Scene Mode in the E-M5. It was 200. Olympus says the WB is set at 5300K which is what it read in ACR, but I found I needed to bring it down in the area of 3500K otherwise the whole scene had a brownish cast to it.
Great job... really like it. Thanks for sharing.
