"If the American Revolution had produced nothing but the Declaration of Independence, it would have been worthwhile.... The beauty and cogency of the preamble, reaching back to remotest antiquity and forward to an infinite future, having lifted the hearts of millions of men and will continue to do.... These words are more revolutionary than anything written by Robespierre, Marx, or Lenin, more explosive than the atom, a continual challenge to ourselves as well as an inspiration to the oppressed of all the world."

That America is getting stronger and stronger and better and better. Despite the constant barrage of bad news in the media (which rarely reports good news) the country is confronting it's issues (racial, health, the environment, crime, education, etc. and for the most part, slowly, falteringly, making progress. If it weren't for the current state of political polarization, things would move a lot faster.

Things always move faster if you can eliminate the opposition. Ask Hitler.

I love this country. We live in very privileged times in the greatest nation that has ever existed. Yes, there are problems, but there always has been problems and there always will be problems. I am thankful to all those who have given their lives or health in service to our country, to the members of the military who continue to serve their country, to the police officers, fire fighters, EMS worker and others who work to keep us safe. Please enjoy the Independence Day Holiday and remember all those who work so hard on our behalf.

I agree that America is the leader of the free world. But there are many who think this country is too exceptional. The far left is organized and wants to transform this country into something the founders never wanted. They have the media to help them and our college professors are teaching the youth that America is evil in its present form and must be changed. These young people are not being taught what made this country great, only that it must be changed. They are losing freedoms every day and dont even realize it. This wealth redistribution is communism. How long do you think the people who work hard for their money will stand for it being taken from them and given to people who have no desire to earn their money.

I love this country and pray that the young Americans get the proper instruction on what the for-fathers wanted for this country. The left is bringing in all those people from Mexico and expect them to vote for them. The terrorists are probably coming in through the same border but Obama doesn't care if you lose a few Americans in a bombing as long as you get more votes for them. Hell, maybe the people killed in an explosion are Republican and then it would be a win win for the dems.

Bringing the lofty ideas of the founding fathers to fruition is an ongoing process, sometimes butting heads with human nature. "All men are created equal", even after we won the Revolutionary War, only applied to men, and only applied to white men who owned land. The rallying cry did not bear fruit for most people except with constant work - work which is still ongoing, and sometimes painstakingly slow. And yet the framework established by the founders remains strong, and prevents sudden pendulum shifts and even (sometimes, and eventually) prevents the "Tyranny of the majority". This is why America stands unique in the world. We have a representative government - but not one that changes and suffers from the whims of whatever narcissistic megalomaniac is in power at the moment.

It is far from perfect, and my fear is that we have suffered a severe blow to democracy by eliminating essentially all controls over campaign financing - our government becomes for the rich and powerful, by the rich and powerful, and of the rich and powerful. We need to restore true democracy by demanding real campaign finance reform, so that our representatives get elected based on their ideas, not on how much money they can spend on TV advertising.

I love this country, always have, always will. Unfortunately we are a country in decline especially over the last 6 years. The last straw was earlier this week when the SCOTUS decided they can rewrite the Constitution to THEIR own interpretation. They are now making the laws as THEY see fit. It's only a matter of time that they rewrite the meaning of the 2nd amendment to THEIR own beliefs, that will signal the END for this country!!!!

American exceptionalism does not hold up to scrutiny!

It is a myth needed by those who are insecure in their own ability to think!

I would submit the country is not only not confronting real issues, it's moving backwards on ones that we were making great progress on, such as racism.
Health? Coverage does not equate to health!

It's hard to fix much of anything when 14% of your people have no jobs, and tens of millions others have part time jobs, and in places like here in Chiraq
30-50 people a day are getting shot at, kids can't even get to and from school without a valid belief of getting shot, beat up, or otherwise killed, teachers worry more about a union than the kids, politicians have close-to-lifetime jobs..........need I continue?
