I just got my D7200 and I can't see my Raw files in Explorer. I can see them with my D800. I'm on Windows8. Is there a way to update the Explorer or am I stuck with this problem unless I upgrade to Windows10? Thanks for any helpful comments!

You would want to look up codecs for Windows8 to read .nef files. Keep in mind that the D7200 is very new and a Windows Codec for that camera may not have been written yet.

You might want to try the Microsoft Camera Codec. I downloaded it for Win7 and Canon RAW and it works fine.

Thanks, I hit the same problem in LR4. I did upgrade to the latest version of Camera Raw and can see the raw files now. But I guess I'll have to wait for a new update there. I'll look into the codec and see if they support the D7200 yet. Thanks again!

Do you mean you can see the files listed by name, or a preview image of what the photo contains?

You probably got a disc with your camera "VIEWNX", load it, it is Nikon software that allows you to view your RAW files. You can also go to the Nikon site and download if you didn't get the disc.

Just download the codec files from Nikon.. If you are using LR or something else, you don't need to install View NX.

NOTE: this is Nikon's Codec for All versions of Windows. If you have a Canon or other brand, they probably also provide it on their websites.

Thanks, worked great for Windows8 Explorer. Now just have to wait for the LR4 update. I mainly use CS6 for nature photography (LR for Landscapes) and that's what I use the D7200 for so I can wait.
