OK....we're picking up from Part 1 at the waterfalls where The River Hvita drops 96 feet into two falls. Starting off with a couple more pictures from this spot before discovering some geysers & some other unique areas in Iceland. Thanks for coming along for the adventure. This will be about another 15 shots.

These are some very hot geothermal springs. This one is "too hot to touch"....so says our guide, followed by... "but we "could touch if we're careful & quick." So of course I stuck one hand into the water & snapped it back pretty fast as the water actually boils! OUCH!! (4)

Welcome to the Geyser area. You can watch this one bubble up a bit , then go down...up....down & finally it explodes. It goes off about every 6 minutes. (5)

We're now at Thingvellir National Park. The area is surrounded by mountains & encompasses a vast lava plain of green moss & wild flowers. The Icelanders reguard this as a sacred place for in the year 930 the worlds oldest legislative body, The Althing, 1st convened here. As we looked across one area of the plains at Thingvellir our guide was pretty sure that we were looking at a current church in the distance. (8)

As one walks towards the more rugged areas one encounters some beautiful water areas. (8)

This water is extremely deep & crystal clear. We dropped coins into the water & made a wish. You're suppose to watch it drop as far as you can & then it continues dropping further than the eye can see. Note my shadow showing in the water. I was standing on the edge of the rocks & was unaware of it till I looked at these shots. (9)

Yes a great set Bob and very informative. What surprises me is ..there is no snow to be seen!!
Excellent set Bob and thanks for the tour.
Great set! Love your shadow in the water... Really adds a lot of interest and perspective to the shot!
We'll take this exact tour in early August. When were you there? Did you see any aurora? Ice caves?

Hello again Doddy! That "informative" part, mostly due to the late hour I choose to post, had me timed out on UHH so I had to add a 3rd brief section just for completion. When we were there it was in a September timeframe so snow had pretty much melted, but I'm sure it wasn't much longer before it returned. Actually Iceland has less snow than Greenland.....but the locals don't want people to know that! We could see some mountain areas in the distance with snow on them. (too far for a good picture) Bob 8-)

Thanks once again FrodoBaggins for hanging in there & catching part 2 of Iceland. I really like this section myself & glad you saw it. That shadow was a real surprise when I came home & could see it clearly. Bob

Thanks for checking out my Iceland series. When we were there it was during a mid September timeframe. You might have slightly warmer weather which would be a good thing! No...we didn't see any aurora or ice caves. Or at least we weren't crawling thru any caves! There was an area by the waterfalls off to the distant left where we could see glaciers & snow covered mountain tops. Perhaps ice caves were closer than we realized! It certainly felt cool enough at moments! In other words....dress warm! Bob & enjoy!

Thanks for sharing! I think I need to go there now. Interesting and beautiful! Question on the water in the first two shots...the water seems tinted or something. Almost a milky discoloration. Did you hear anything about that? Seeing the other clear water, I would have expected it to be more clear.
