Been wringing out hardware for best resolution and having enough success that i decided to tackle sharpness.
Was not having much luck there but as i turned to make a run to the kitchen for a snack I may have noticed the source of much un-sharpness in my tests.
Tunnel vision...So fixed on lenses and F-stops i totally forgot about proper subject control.
With the subject hanging by one leg from the needle and waving in the breeze of a floor fan ten feet away i'm surprised i got any image at all.
In hindsight i should have figured it cause adding flash to the continuous lights improved sharpness.

Yeah, that is sharp!
i hope you are just pulling my tail cause that is the un-sharpness i've been bitchin about.
Hopefully properly supporting my subjects will solve some of my softness.

It was "tongue-in-cheek" with the subject matterÂ…
;-)
removed the needle and tied him to a penny instead.
Some of my missing sharpness returned and CombineZP had fewer guesswork areas.
Much sharper. I can see some "stacking artifacts" around the left front legÂ… but otherwise, the hairs look sharp. I've never had much success with holding objects on a pin or wire. Those minute vibrations drive me crazy. You seem to control them as well as any. Your magnifications are higher than mine-- so beyond observing--I'm not much help
Good work.
