Here is my meager attempt to catch Venus moving up on Jupiter.
Tomorrow evening Venus should be directly below Jupiter.
Used my 300mm lens, with 1.4x extender, then cropped the photo.
Not good conditions here in Phoenix for night sky photography because of very dusty atmosphere from the monsoon winds hitting our valley. Hope tomorrow is better.
Get your telephotos out tomorrow and take a look. You folks with SX50's should be able to get a much closer look. Good luck.
Note that Venus has a "half moon" look. This is because sun light is coming in from the right side of this photo.
Although the planets will appear close, actually Venus is 56 million miles from earth and Jupiter is a wamping 550 million miles away. So no collision this time!
Very nicely done considering the conditions!
