This female Brown Headed Cowbird came by the feeders today with a small group of House Sparrows. It appeared normal in every way except that it's left leg was totally missing. She was able to perch on an iron bar, a tree limb and the rail of the deck. She ate with an apparent appetite. Amazing how well she has adapted to the point that she pays no attention to it.
Nice stuff Bob...you do such good work. It is amazing how wildlife adapts. I've shot some Chickadee's that were missing toes, possibly frozen off...but yet they seem to have adapted.

A pity that we humans aren't usually as resilient as our wildlife friends!
