Good morning from Baltimore. I just got a Nikon D7200 and decided to join the group. I am a 70 year old retired physicist who learned photography from his father who had been a photography teacher. My father built a darkroom in the basement to teach me. I used much of his old equipment but bought developer and fixer from Kodak instead of making them from recipes which he did early in his career (still have his recipe for D76). I also have his original safe light ... a Kodak "Candle Lamp" that uses a candle; if was for people who did not have electricity.
Now that I have retired I hope to return to photography (but not, alas, to a darkroom, sigh. I miss the smells.) I have also taken up drawing and painting with pastels, completely different from anything I have done before.
Look forward to interacting with youse guys (have family that lives in Brooklyn).

Baltimore has its own accent also - and don't you say "you all"?
Welcome to the UHH - lots of very helpful people here. And digital, while not dependent upon a darkroom, has its own advantages (and I grew up in the darkroom era).
Sounds great to get into drawing and painting, but as a physicist, you have to find a Zorthian to your Feinman to be your instructor :-)
A great choice, I am sure you will love it. I have a D7100 & a D750 and am very pleased with both. I will be looking for some great pictures.

Welcome to the Hog Goldfad.
Welcome and enjoy
Nice portrait
Welcome aboard. My only question what good is a safe light that uses a candle because no electricity? How would you use an enlarger
Welcome to UHH goldfad1, glad you joined us. Also had the dark room & chemicals. Now the dark room is the computer. You should really like that D7200. I shoot with the D7100 and I really like it.
Have fun, learn and enjoy the forum.
