I am wondering which type/brand of card reader works fastest for downloading Compact Flash and SD cards to an iMac. I am using 64GB Lexar UDMA7 1066x and 32GB Lexar Pro SD 600x cards. The files from my Nikon 810 are running approx. 75mb/per. Also, is there any card reader that will work with the Thunderbolt connection?
Thanks.

USB 3.0 (or 3.1) is the fastest, and a Firewire port would be next.
The speed of the card is paramount, the reader and camera count too. The slowest of the three will control the speed of transfer.
I use a Targus USB 2 card reader. It is only average speed, but honestly I have so much to do that I rarely find myself tied up waiting for the downloads. I spend my time on other things while the download is running, though the times are substantial with large file groups.
