Digital polarizer plug in for PSCS6?

I know, I know, only a polarizer in front of the lens can control reflectiions and such. But I have some great photos I took in Alaska which really needed a polarizer. Unfortunately, I did not have one that would fit the borrowed lens I was using. I am interested in improving the sky in these photos. I have seen some simulation techniques available for use with CS3, but I am wondering if an actual plug in is available that will work with CS6. B&W had one years ago, but apparently it is was only usable in Windows XP. I am using windows 7. Anybody know of such an animal, or a really good way to simulate in CS6?

Try an exposure gradient and mask out the areas you like so just the sky is darkened. But if it's blown out the detail is gone. Post a photo for us to look at

Try a Google search for Xero Meta Grad, they have a version for 64bit Win 7.

Google turned up a URL for the Xero Meta Grad, which is 404 not found. Furthere searches say that the website domain name has expired, so it looks like that is a dead end.

Sorry you had a bad experience with Google. Here is the link I got from Google and the page at the end of the link.

Good, I ma glad you got to see it and the samples they used.

One thing in PS and the plugin. If you use a selection to select specific sections of the picture set your feathering before making the selection.

In most of my images I do not require a selection, all I need is a bit of polar effect on the sky.

Here is a before and after photo of Mount McKinley. The Xero plug in did exactly what I was looking for. I can see that I will have to learn to use it better. Thanks! (above no processing, below Zero Meta Grad enhanced.)

hudgek,

You have it made, good job using just a little filtering.

Personally, I prefer to use the Polar filter on the lens where ever possible. But when I can't MetaGrad performs very well.

I agree with you about using the polarizer on the camera. I use one often. but when I went to Alaska a few weeks ago I borrowed a longer lens from my brother. He usually shoots photos of his son wrestling, and does not use a polarizer for that. I don't have a 77mm diameter circular polarizer, so when I used that lens I didn't have the option available. Next time I will plan better.

hudgek,

Okay. If you may be looking for additional lens assortments for you camera, and filters for those lenses consider looking for filter and holder for the largest diameter lens you may have. this way you purchase one filter, one holder, and step down rings for the lens to holder assembly. One filter fits all lenses. Cokin is my choice.
