Airports should be "perfume free"

To all ladies and gentlemen that feel the need to splash on parfume or cologne before you fly --- I beg of you NOT TO! Just take a shower and put on clean clothes - Keep your parfumes and colognes for your next hot date.... But please please do not put it on before you get on a crowded airplane that is already filled with weird smells. As I sit in the ft.lauderdale airport next to a woman that filled her pool with parfume and dove in this morning --- I beg of everyone please no parfume on the airplane -- no one likes it!!!

I agree with you 100%! Unfortunately, the people who need to know this never will. On a flight from Geneva to LAX, I recall sitting next to a very nice young gentleman from Switzerland who did not use deodorant. Normally your nose starts to become immune to smells but not this smell! YIKES! 13 hours of this back in 1999 and I can still remember the smell.

I agree, But it just may be that she smells much worse without the "cover up".

I thought originally that many Europeans needed to shower more.

After living in Belgium for 6 years I realized they shower every day but sometimes put on the same shirts/blouses for the week.

Couldn't agree more. I work in a hospital where the 'scent-free' rule is in effect for patient safety. Doesn't seem to impress some of the folks - one gal, I swear, marinates overnight in her cologne. Following her down a hall is like following Pigpen from the cartoon - you can almost see the scent - between bouts of coughing and gagging of course. Complaints about her go nowhere and I truly pity the patients or other employees with allergies with whom she comes into contact.

And don't forget theaters (opera, plays) and movie theaters. Sometimes the odor is so powerful it would gag a maggot!!
PS - I suspect the SCOTUS will be ruling on this social issue anyday now....
