I think it is probably pollen Tom, there is so much pollen about here at the moment. I think it is a Wood White Butterfly, Leptidea sinapis but I can't be sure.
:thumbup: I like the prickly caterpillar and the green "scale" insect.
Thanks Douglass, I think the caterpillar is a small Tortoiseshell butterfly called Aglais urticae. The Scale insect might be Aphenochiton subtilis or very similar.
