Got a bug guide ID request out on the 1st one (I'm assuming it's a fly). The 2nd one is a Bombyliidae (Bee Fly). Spotted the first one on my trash cans as I was weed whacking out front & the 2nd one was on the cover of my grill out back...

No Douglas, It is a parasitoid of large carpenter bees....I get them every year & normally find them on my fence (in which I have Carpenter bee nests)

Nice eyes. I would also have guessed "horsefly". I've not yet photographed a pair of eyes with a pattern & color such as this. :thumbup:

1st one was ID'd as a Species Hermetia illucens - Black Soldier Fly
