Questionable Money-Saver for the A/C

In theory, this sounds like a good idea. Pre-cool the hot outside air before your A/C has to make it even cooler. I see two problems: it costs $450, and it uses a compressor - just like the A/C.

I understand the concept, but the gas is still being compressed to a liquid. Wouldn't the air coming out of the condenser simply be cooler? Wouldn't the gas be compressed the same amount regardless?

I don't see this becoming a big seller. just because the air entering the system is a bit cooler, I doubt that the compressor will just be idling along.

How about a DIY A/C? :D
