From Nikon to Fuji

Well I have had my xt1 for a couple of days now and I must say the first day I thought I had made a mistake and was thinking of returning it. It is a totally different layout and way of shooting. However! after just playing around a little more with it I was getting the hang of it and I will totally enjoy continuing to learn what it can and will do. I wanted to go mirror less and the Fuji offers some of the best prime lenses for their APSC sensor. The files coming out of this system are said to rival full frames with sharpness and buttery out of focus background (bokeh).
Speaking of primes, are there any suggestions on the first one to purchase? I will be using the xt1 for portraiture work. The three that I want to end up with are the 56 f/1.2, 35 f/1.4, 16 f/1.4

If you are into portrait, get the 50mm F1.2 APD lens- mind blowing !

My understanding of the APD version of the 56 f/1.2 is that it does have nicer bokeh but the trade off is slower focus, which some of my portrait work involves kids, so I need the better autofocus.

The 35 f1.4 is a great starting point, and good for street photography too!

I second the 35 1.4, plus the nonAPD 56 and the new 90. Read this http://dedpxl.com/fuji-x-buyers-guide-part-2-lenses/

Did you download the new 4.0 firmware that released last night?

It's supposed to revolutionize the speed and workings of the X-T1.

Also, that's a good choice of lenses...the 56mm f/1.2 is great, as is the 35mm (if a bit old) and the 16mm is a great lens.

They really all are great...no stinkers in the bunch.

What's the crop factor in these cameras? Is there a 35mm in FF equivalent?

they are APS-C which is 1.5.

The 23mm (= 35mm) is one

They have a nice 18mm, a nice 27mm too that I like.

They have a huge stable of lenses for their X cameras.

Hope you're not ONLY going to use this camera for portrait work - it's so much more versatile.

If you're buying your first prime my suggestion also would be the 35mm f1.4 - it's versatile - and be sure to upgrade your camera's firmware to version 4.0. Lots of nice goodies to learn and use, one being Zone Focus which will help me when taking pics like this with this camera and my prime lenses ....... the 35 and the 56.

The dance ? Why, Argentine Tango in the UK ..... what else ?

Before running out and buying a portrait lens, I'd try the one you have on some family and friend's.

They talk quite a bit about it here in the first part of the video...almost makes me want to try one.
