Thrre are as many ways to do it as there are PP programs. Perhaps you should ask how to do it in whatever program you use. I would also like to know if you just want a text signature, or a graphic watermark?

I created one (text) for Photoshop Elements and later learned how to do it in Lightroom where the process is more automatic. For LR I did experience a problem with the font I selected. Although listed as valid option, the font I first selected would not output to the images. When changing to a more traditional font, LR5 became my preferred method.

I use a program called UMark. It is downloadable off of the net and has a free version that has many options.

If you need a text only Watermark, in PhotoShop, open your picture through bridge. Select the Text Tool, select the font color, then either type in what you want for the watermark, or copy & paste your text onto your picture, you can resize it, and move it until you save it.

I make it a habit to do a file save as and re-name the file after watermarking it, instead of saving the changes to the original file. Just call me cautious. But, there may come a day, when you might not want that watermark across "Uncle Harry's" face, chin or neck.

I do similar in PSP and also have an automatic watermark for posting files, when I down size for the web an automatic watermark can be placed on the file, sometimes obnoxious but the idea is to stop piracy so...
