It's over 100. Did some wandering and saw some things I do not see in Portland. I could hear the cicadas-- but they were high in the trees-- and not coming down for a portrait

I wanted to stack it-- but I'm traveling and don't have the gear to do so. I could see several live ones, high up in the trees.
Like candy on the high shelf for a four year old.

Thanks, Brenda. I posted a set of three in the close-up forum if you want to see some others.

No idea, but it was huge, maybe 10-12mm, maybe twice the size of the red fire ants I grew up with in Oklahoma. (The ones I see in Portland are about 4mm-- we call them "sugar ants".)

The only larger ones I've seen were in Costa Rica and were maybe 20mm. Not kidding. Apparently the Indians used to use them to suture wounds.
