The problem with all the hot rods shows within driving distance is that the same cars always show up.

I was in San Diego from August 57 to August of 63--minus a couple weeks at Ord where they told me I was not for the army and one summer working construction in Colo. This looks like the the old SoCal car culture. In that period the custom car guys really impacted Detroit design---except for the Edsel which looked like a ski boat.

Thanks for jogging the memory.

My pleasure Earl. :-D

It's mostly older guys who are restoring and building those old cars. What will the situation be like in fifty years?

All I know Jerry is that I won't be around to see it. :(

What this clip doesn't show is the many smells of fried foods, heat, humidity, incomplete combustion smells, and noise from the engines. One of the rules is that you cannot enter the grounds with a car unless it is 1964 or older. People with newer cars cruise outside of the gates. Its a car show for miles around the fair grounds during the show. Easy to spend a weekend there.

We have a very good car show in Manchester, CT called "Cruisin' on Main" every August. Usually 700 or so antique cars and hot rods. It's not southern California, but it's probably one of the best shows in New England. http://cruisinonmainstreet.org/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.http://cruisinonmainstreet.org/

Thanks. Your first link did not open but the second one did.

I live in the Twin Cities and have never been to it. Will be there next year. I think I may have seen one of my neighbors in the video.

A fantastic car show, this year there were over 11,000 vehicles registered.

that looks like a great show;but I don't think you could see all the cars there in a w/e. I just got back from a car show at MCRD in San Diego not your usual show;this show had everythink down there old and new. Will post some pictures this week.

I have a old Corvette show car I went to a show every weekend until last couple years my back keeps me from doing much anymore.
I plan on going to a big local show in July.

Jerry the young guys are building the little Ricers some shows now have a class for them.
In the future they will become the cars that you will see at a show.
The younger people did not live it and those old cars have no fascination to them.
