Tiny Fly on flower stalk....

Wish I knew what these guys are called. Look like tiny hoverflies to me. Anyhow the chilly late June weather is with me as it slows down the bugs. Three keepers in one day! This guy is at 2:1 . Shot in manual mode, manual focus , f36 , 1/320ss , 1/4 flash. Sigma 70mm macro with Kenko Teleplus Pro 300 2X TC on D7100 body ....Bob
Great focus on the eye, that can't be easy with a teleconverter.

Thanks Brenda! Its not so easy with or without the TC so I go for it as 2:1 when I can! The 2:1 magnification really does makes the dof shallow though. I compensate by using typically unacceptable f stops. This was shot at f36 and by everything Ive read should suffer greatly by diffraction. Hey what works works I guess. :)

Yes, I was wondering about your high f/number and waiting for Douglass to jump down from a very great height but nothing happened so I guess if it works don't knock it just try it.

Honestly I do not understand it. I do not advocate it - it just works for me with my set up. Typically I'll settle at f/29 as in this shot I took last week on another chilly wet day.
Super focus on the eyes Bob!!
