This question has probably been asked before but......
I understand that the numer of "megapixels" a digital camera uses to record a digital image has a very direct effect on the clarity, sharpness, resolution, etc. on the digital image. My question is, at what point, if any, does the average person loose the ability to differentiate between changes in resolution (i.e. increased "megapixels") The difference between, say 3MP and 12MP is very obvious, but does it ever stop becoming that obvious?
Sorry, smiley face not intended
When you start enlarging the pictures is when you will see the poor images. When you go above 8x10 you are multiplying the square inches fast. From a 8z10 to 16x20 then got to 20x30 and do the math. That will answer your question.
Old Timer,
Thanks for the response. I did have that in the back of my mind, I forgot to mention I'm thinking of 4X6 to 8X10 max. My bad. Anything else you can think of?
I have found when approaching a worthwhile subject it is always best to use maximum pixel output. If you want an image to hang on the wall the more dpi the better.
