Welcome to Day 86 :) I had a request to do another day of flowers, and since I can't seem to pass a flower without photographing it .. this one was easy to agree to.
So I thought in order to make it a real challenge .... let's do State Flowers. The flower your state has adopted as the State Flower.
Here is a list in case you don't know your State Flower.
http://www.50states.com/flower.htm This is going to be tough for some of us. Still winter in some states, and my state flower isn't blooming yet. So let's do the best we can and if nothing else
at least we will all know the name of our State Flower :)
I look forward to seeing what y'all come up with
LMAO - Kentucky's state flower is goldenrod and it blooms in September and I have never gotten a photo of it!!! Since some of us aren't going to be able to do our state flower can we choose a state flower from another state? Something we may have in archives (as a last resort for me) or have in bloom in our state right now? I can't believe I have never photographed a goldenrod ! Probably because it is an herb that grows wild, is considered a wildflower and looks like a friggin' weed! I'm sorry Nebraska... same flower for you but different species.
You got some great shots photogrl57.
This is a pic of this ugly so called flower - lol:

Being on the Oregon/California border...I'll claim both the California Poppy and the Oregon Grape.
Being in the desert, we are very fortunate to have a wonderful showing of Giant Blazing Stars!
Certainly not now...
1. Kinda Cold
2. Took this a couple of weeks ago
3. Taken last summer.
4. The only thing "blooming" right now is NEW CALVES!

pg.1 Post only our state flower?
Judy
Loc: SW Missouri
The Missouri state flower is a Hawthorne, which does not grow where I live!! However the state tree, the Flowering Dogwood, is blooming now so I'm posting it instead. All the close-ups of the Flowering Dogwood (white) were blown out so the pink had to do today.
Country dogwoods
City dogwoods
With a weather forecast for today of 2 cm. of snow it will be a while before I am finding wildflowers, so I had to go to my archives to find a picture of a purple violet, our provincial flower of New Brunswick, Canada and I had very few to choose from.

Janice, you think that you have problems? Québec has no state flowers but the flowers we have are in a state of hibernation LOL
Happy Monday everyone! It looks like we'll have another glorious low 80's day in the "big D"...
State flower of Texas:
"BLUEBONNET or LUPINUS
Named for its color and, it is said, the resemblance of its petal to a woman's sunbonnet, the bluebonnet is the state flower of Texas. It blooms in the early spring and can be readily found in fields and along the roadsides throughout central and south Texas. Scientifically named Lupinus texensis, the bluebonnet is also called buffalo clover, wolf flower, and (by the Mexicans) el conejo. It was adopted as the official state flower by the Texas Legislature in 1901."
Thanks for the link, PG!
I don't have any in my yard but I happen to have taken these pictures this last Saturday when we found a nice patch of Bluebonnets around White Rock Lake...They are now in full bloom especially down in the "hill country" of Texas which is around and West of Austin...
RR I believe the provincial flower of Quebec is blue flag , ie: (like a wild Iris) don't you just love google!

Just love Dogwoods, beautiful pictures! The pink one brings back memories, my oldest son was born in April and I had a little tree in my front yard and it was blooming when we came back from the hospital!
