I had never visited this park before. Although it has some nice areas, I don't think it deserves NP status. I did manage to get a few shots at the limited geothermal spot I hiked to. I would say it was not worth the 1.5 mile hike. Good thing the hike was not technically difficult either.
They gave it NP status after the mountain erupted in the early 1900's. I guess nobody wanted the land for anything after the eruption, so they made it into a park. Nice that they saved the land so people can visit.

Beautiful captures! And tack sharp, obviously using a tripod but what camera/lens were you using?

D810 W/28-70mm f2.8. Three were tripod, one hand-held.

I had a feeling you used your D810, I have pretty much the same bodies as you, I have the D810 but I also have a D600 and a D90. I won't go into my film bodies, I rarely use them any more. Again, beautiful captures.

It has some lovely areas, but for me there are many better spots much closer than Lassen.

There are lovely spots there, just not what I expect for NP status.
