There's one like that here in Mtn Home, AR area, which many decades ago was the stagecoach stop, where they had a nice shady (or dry) spot to hitch the team, or to protect the coach if they over-nighted there. Sadly, it's now in tumble-down condition.
This is definitely not old. The owner of these buildings is an out of state rancher and owns many acres. Comes to visit occasionally.
