I am not a professional photographer but very much enjoy making the best of my photos.
Question is: Which would be the best Lightroom to buy, the 5 or the 6. I have Elements 9 and 11, NX2, and OnOne Suite 8.5.
I do not want the Cloud combination at $9.95/month.
Is there an advantage of ordering a hard copy of LR?
Please advise.
the cloud combination that you don't want is the best option now and in the future.
always get the latest version you can, so lr6 if you do standalone.
i resisted the subscription method at first until I tried it. it really is the best option.

You've been given great responses, but I'll address your specific questions. I've always been of the mind that software I have installed should always be the latest version, so if you have a choice between version 5 and version 6, by all means, go with version 6. I'm not sure you have that choice however, as I've not seen version 5 available anywhere. Doesn't mean it isn't!! I just haven't seen it.
Over the years, I've tried various storage methods for all the software CDs I've received in the purchase of software, and became very weary of it. It becomes a library you have to manage. Current methods of software distribution, where one simply downloads the software, is a boon for me!! I download the installation file, store it in a folder after installation and there is no media to be cataloged. Just my personal preferences.
