This is a fascinating photo and, when viewed via download, it shows such complexities, including an old ailing ship. I also love the foreground posts in the water. Really nice photo!

Thanks Doug. I was around the area on Monday taking sunset shots and noticed the piling and thought it would make a good photograph so I went back this afternoon. I was concerned that I had left it too late as the sun was just in front of me but it looks like it turned out okay. Thanks again and pleased you like it.

Beautiful shot. Any idea what all the pilings were for?

Don't know for sure but you always have to remember that NYCity was a major international shipping Port, because of the deep water docking facilities. My guess is that the pilings are the remains of a pier. There are abandoned pilings in many areas around the harbor.

Dugole, Did you mean "ailing" or "sailing" ship. From the distance she looked pretty well maintained to me, and she was the last time I went down the East River.. I think she's one of the vessels at the South Street Seaport.

Very nice. Did you manage to go Brooklyn Heights? At the end of Montique St. There is a pedestrian walk called the Promenade. There are spectacular vies of New York and the Bridges

Thanks coohart, pleased you like it. No, I didn't get to Brooklyn Heights but I've made a note of that and will go next time.

Just realised I spelt your name wrong in my previous post, my apologies. I've been having a look at some of the images for Brooklyn Heights and it does look very attractive. My son has recently moved to New York State so I will be visiting regularly - will get there next time.
