These were shot in the same wind storm last week.
Except the Sun was shot today in 18 MPH gusts.
Nikon D800E w/Meade 8" SCT f/9.5
All where shot Prime Focus.

And you said you didn't shoot anything.
Not to shabby considering what you were shooting in.

Thank you Jim. I did shot a few things in the 15-18 mph winds.
Nothing that turn out very well.
But the mount was tracking really well.

It's funny but showing up to the star party I went to most of the telescopes in attendance were Dobs getting slung around like wayward monkeys.
I was still waiting for Polaris to get an accurate alignment while they whirled away.
I had one gentlemen come up and look into my diagonal without an eyepiece and comment that it needed focusing.
I smiled and explained I didn't have my camera in place that I was working on that and would surely get it taken care of.
I'm pretty sure he thought I was nutz..
I did however get a decent alignment out of my patience.

Great shots, Craig.
Especially considering the blow.

I have my film now, and going to make a holder to stick-it on the scope. (I went DIM. Do It Myself)
Humm, maybe a tomato can...
But, thought I'd see if I can join the Sun Spot gazing.

I still haven't figured out my tracking yet. No link...

Wow! There was a line for Polaris? (I was still waiting for Polaris to get an accurate alignment while they whirled away.)

But then, no surprise if they couldn't tell if there was an eyepiece or not.

Was the alignment line looking North? :hunf:

Here is the setup I made for my scope out of Styrofoam.

Great idea, Craig!
Let's the film lay flat on the surface. And no possibility of leakage around it.
Thanks for the idea!

I've got as far as a ring that fits the OD of the front of my scope.

Down and dirty off your design.
Scaled to my film & scope. (6" X 6" on a 4" diameter scope.)

Yeah, it's just Mylar. Transmission: 1/1000 of 1%

I used one of my wood lathes to get a shoulder for the piece of 4" PVC in a 6" X 6". Then super glued the PVC into the MDF square.
Now, to find the sun... :? :D

Yep.
Missed 21 of them a while back.
:hunf:

I'd like to be outside, but it's miserable here. Sticky and sweaty.
Hope it is nicer over there.

Beautiful here during the day 80* and clear.
At sundown the fog rolls in.
