I am looking for a Nikon D7000 body only... any suggestions?
I have looked at Amazon, Adorama, B&H and prices range from $500 on up. I am not sure of EBAY due to the possibility of a black market unit.
Any comments on the Nikon D2x?

Thanx

So what you're actually looking for? You mentioned the D7000 and it sounded you did not like the price being above 500 bucks. The next moment you would like some comments on a six grand camera?

I would never buy any used body, D7000 or otherwise, that the seller could not provide me a shutter count for. $500 is a fair quote for a good, low shutter count D7000 body.
The D2X is a great camera, but will not give the same quality images as the D7000 in a side by side comparison, and they are running just a little more money on the used market due to the Pro build quality of the body.

Sorry for your confusion in my post I could have done it better. Actually I can find the D2x for the same price as the D7000. For bigger bucks the D4s is probably what you are thinking about.
Anyway I just got a call form my local Nikon Dealer...thanx for your time.

Amazon still has brand new D7000's in stock at discounted prices. I bought a second one from them not long ago. They're an authorized Nikon dealer. I don't want any more than 16 megapixels on a DX sensor so I'm sticking with my D90 and D7000's.
I just went on their website and saw that there is one new D2x. It's coming from a company that's selling via Amazon so I would check them out that company carefully.

eBay is fine, as long as the seller describes the camera as USA version (or whatever country you are in). If it turns out not to be so, then the seller misrepresented and you can return the camera at no cost to you, and get a refund for everything, including shipping. Most reputable sellers will voluntarily accept a return, but it is an eBay policy as well, to be invoked if push comes to shove. The last place I would buy camera gear is through Craigslist. I will sell there, but never buy there.

I've always liked buying refurbished bodies, and $500 is reasonable for a camera that cost $1,200 new. You can get one for less on ebay, but getting a refurb from a dealer is safer, although you won't get a shutter count on a refurb.

The D7000 is right now my favorite camera. It is small, light and its quality is excellent when good technique is used. My tendency is to use it with Picture Control set to NEUTRAL to obtain the colors I like.
The D2X is still a great camera in good light but if fails miserably after ISO 800. I prefer the D200, similar output, weather proof, metal chasis and cheaper at present prices.
Both cameras have the first generation colors, pastel type that I like so much in my work.
