"File is Open in Another Program"

One thing I'd like to see MS fix in a future version of Windows is the message telling me that I cannot delete a file because it is open in another program - when it isn't. I've been trying to delete old files from a folder, and nothing will delete because it is "open in another program." No other files are open, yet I can't delete anything. Stupid! When I reboot, it will work fine.

I'm not looking for a solution, just venting.

I'd like a solution. Other than rebooting I can't fix it!

Venting is a solution or so it seems.

I have the same, seldom though. re-booting is ok as long as it works.
I'm not looking for a solution, not even venting just agreeing. that's all. Its therapeutic. ooops is that a word?

I tried deleting the file without opening the folder - mental power alone - but that didn't work. :D I'll try again tomorrow.

There's an extremely simple solution and MS made my decision easy.
I bought a Mac.

So did I, but I still have this Dell to maintain.

Even after two reboots, it still won't let me delete.

It's been over two years and no solution posted. I still have the problem. I have found that backing out of the file manager works but it's a nuisance.

I often have the same problem when trying to eject external hardware.

Amen.

Windows is a buggy knockoff of the Mac OS which thrives in the market solely on price.

IMHO the Mac OS offsets the price difference in reduced frustration alone.

Good Evening Jerry, sebottino here. Try downloading "Fileassassin" from Malwarebytes. It's a free download. Just drag and drop the offending file into the Fileassassin folder and you will be presented with various options to delete in.
