Need some help with a home air conditioner? New to these newfangled gizmos and some help is needed and appreciated. When I set the cool temp to 70 degrees and the thermostat reaches the 70 degrees the fan stays on. I know theres a small cool down period but after ½hr(+) the fan is still running,
Have I screwed up a setting or something ?

Ask the folks that installed your system.

That sounds good for sure. Be comfortable with your source.
The newer units,as well as refridgerators, etc, run pretty much continually.
I'm looking at the Mitsubishi ductless that run constantly(fan) and are the benchmark in the industry for efficiency.
Unhook the green wire on your stat and see if the fan shuts off.

I phoned and they said they would send out a tech for a service call- for $100- I told them I'd get back to them,

Ah,American expertise and customer support infect our neighbors!
Screw the installer, the product manufacturer should be able to field your question.
Do you have the Fan switch set for FAN or AUTO?
If it is FAN (on)....then it will run all the time.

Is this a NEW system? No initial warranty? Go around the installer and contact the manufactor. What does the instructions say about this? Or maybe a FAQ at the mfg website?
Good luck.

It's a fairly new system but it is very new to me. I just had the house comfortable- 70 degrees , outside temp about 90, now storm moving in, outside temp 71!
No Wonder I Drink :? :?

I alluded to a more constant running and maintaining a temp is part of the latest technology. A lower rate of constant running eliminates much of the surging that eats up the electricity. This is also evident in refrigeration, not constant, but more running than we saw years ago.
There has to be some experts out here than can expound! The only reason I know a little is due to researching a new a/c unit for my house. Yes,I know,a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but this isn't rocket science. :D
