I posted the final version of the fireworks photo in the PP section. Just to see if I could get any more suggestions.
I got mostly good suggestions (I know it could use more work, but I need to pick a spot to stop, so I'm just asking for input there)
I will be posting a couple more photos in our section soon, I think I'm about 90% done editing the wedding, so more to come.

Wow, tough crowd in the PP section. I appreciate the suggestions, but now I'm beginning to feel like someone should take my photoshop subscription away and lock me in a corner. I had to come back to our forum, just for a friendly voice :-)

I looked at the finished photo, along with the comments in the pp section. Although their comments were 'technically correct', they're pixel peeping. The version you posted is BEAUTIFUL and I'd be proud to have produced it. I am certain that the bride will be ecstatic in the positive when she sees it.
Sometimes, we just have to trust our gut feeling. If you think they (she) will be happy, leave well enough alone.

Gym is correct, they are pixel peepers for the most part. I snap a few pictures and then play with each one for hours, that isn't our gig, we snap 100's and sometime 1000's at a single shoot, you can't pixel peep and make a living.
I won't post anything over there ever again, to many meanies, they just don't know how to communicate without looking down at you.
Anyone who has snapped weddings professionally knows it's a crazy fast paced gig, not for pixel peeper types.
Some are photographers, others are pixel peepers, seldom are you both to a professional standard.

Well, I just posted a revised copy with most of the suggestions. The main issue I was having was how many people told me what was wrong, but nobody attempted to show me how they could have done it better.
The newer version took an additional 20 layers. At this point, it is done, no matter what they say.
Although points were valid, and making the changes helped, I guess my disappointment was that I see people making changes (which is encouraged, and I asked people to do more than once) that they thought would make it better. It's much easier to just say what is wrong, but I thought one or two of the people over there would have taken a crack at it, just to give me something to aim to get better.
Thanks for the positive comments. One good thing is that this picture made me push myself to try to figure out some things. I do think that I could probably make some fairly convincing water for a reflection in the future if it ever comes up. It may not be the "right way" but I haven't seen a real way to make water without using a plug in. It was pretty satisfying to figure something out without a book or watching a tutorial.

Kind of like being thrown to the lions huh? Hey, most of them pixel peep, have strong options, and don't deliver them very well. However, one sure gets feedback and if you don't take it personal then there are usually a few nuggets of learning in there.
Photography is really art and an expression of creativity. It always amazes me how fellow photographers are so stuck on their way or the highway.
