The wind was high and my ISO was to high for this camera.
But here goes. The wind caused the same trails no matter
how long the exposure. And the poor old Canon T2i camera
just can not handle an 800 ISO. I should have shot longer
shot at ISO 400. I'm not going to show Downloads.
Canon T2i H-alpha Converted w/Meade 8" at f/9.5
different exposures from 1 to 3 min.
ISO 800. No cropping. PP in LR.

Your modified made a big difference on the Ring Nebula.
Aside from the trails, The nebulas look pretty good.
Your Ring has much more detail than mine. In the lens, all I could see was a gray smoke ring so imagine my surprise when I opened it up and saw a blue ring.
Nicely done Craig.

Thank you Jim. And yes all I saw through the lens was a tiny grey smoke ring.
A problem I had with the UHH was it wouldn't post the original JPEGs and when I reduced them Tons of Noise showed up!!!

Yes it is and Equatorial Mount that I use.
And last night it was right on tracking which made it a lot of fun.

Well, for those of us who can see through the wind damage, those are beautiful, Craig!
Wowzers!

Glad your tracking was spot on.
I'm hoping for an email tomorrow. :hunf:
If I hadn't come home to find your post, I was going to PM you to see how it went.
Sorry the wind was bad for you. :?

Thank you Sonny. It just goes to show that I can get my mount dialed in.
I haven't seen the night sky for a month & a half.
I am going to come live with you in the desert until the fog clears over here.

I too fancy the ring nebula. I have been pondering some form of wind break. We see horrendous winds with average gusts of 10-20mph and upwards of 50-60mph during heavy storms. I think its because there are no trees to help break it up so it stays down at foot level.

Great captures no if ands or buts,
Matthew

All beautiful, very good work. If I might, I suggest getting an old 4 person tent and removing the top. Light enough to carry and erect, should take 15-20 mph gusts without failing. I wouldnt think it could handle much more than that. We used one that size for camping when I was a kid. Only failed once and that was about a 40mph gust. Easy to put back up, but still we got soaked :-)

Very nice -- the modified camera really does make a difference. Shame about the wind...

I think if you removed the top, it would take away a lot of the stability too... I suspect anything capable of blocking a decent wind gust is going to be pretty big and bulky.

When camping on the beach at Padre Island, off Corpus Christi many years ago, the wind was coming in off the sea with some nasty gusts. I moved my car around and parked it up close to the tent on that side. Didn't stop it, but it helped some...

Here is a shot of the Trifid Nebula I reworked in Lightroom.
I adjusted the RGB Colors in Tonal Curves & Luminance and Color Noise in Detail.
I'll try the others in a couple hours.
