I am looking for a cloud service for off-site backup of my large files. Would like to hear what people use/have used, good experiences and bad. Thanks for any information and guidance.
Nothing but good experience with Carbonite. Help is always a phone call away.

And, thanks windshoppe, that is the kind of thing I need to know.

I am currently using Carbonite and am very happy with it. My motherboard died a horrible death and I had to buy a new computer. Carbonite was able to replace all my photos with out a hitch. INMHO you can't buy a more reliable system

That is good news, boberic!
Computer guy here. I have over a terabyte of data, mostly my pictures there. Unlimited backup for $60 a year. I got a $100 a year plan that includes one external hard drive as well, which needs to be connected to the computer you have licensed, but it can be moved around to grab files from other sources as necessary. I got a ransomware virus a couple of years ago and was able to fix it with no data loss. The newer versions of ransomware encrypt your hard drive and anything on your network that your computer can see, so you HAVE to pay to get your stuff back and there's no guarantee you will. The only defense is an offsite cloud system. Carbonite and the better cloud backups keep a rolling month of all of your files, so you can go back in time to any date for up to a month. Handy if bad guys turn your stuff into goo. If you need to restore, you can prioritize what you want to download first, or if you need the whole enchilada right away, you can pay an extra fee to have them FedEx you an external drive with all of your stuff. Highly recommended. I have tried others, and my clients use several cloud services, but what I personally use and recommend is Carbonite. Good luck from a fellow Texan!

Thanks, PC guy! Actually, I did contact Carbonite and they discouraged me from using their service after I described what I wanted. I want some place, other than my external hard-drive, to store and have daily access to my big photo files. Carbonite said that they don't do that, they just backup computers. I am glad to hear that Carbonite is great as a backup for the computer and I will use it at some time in the future for that. Right now, I am trying to find some place off-computer to save the stuff I work with frequently. This place needs to allow me to pull out the files to work with them in Photoshop, as often as I want.
Any Ideas?
I wonder why they would discourage you? File sizes?...
And hello from another Ark-La-Tex native ( Kilgore) living in the mountains of Western NC!

I am not sure it was a problem with the size of files, if they are backing up entire computers. I was told that they were "not a storage service." They told me their business was to "backup computers." It was almost like I insulted them by thinking I could use them for off-computer storage. I am not so trusting of my external hard-drive that I want to solely depend on that. Besides, Seagate wants to be my computer-backup, as well. It is not happy being used for additional storage, either. It wants to "get all up into my computer." It doesn't want to just sit there willingly and let me send it files.
Anyway, yes, Kilgore is in the neighborhood of Jefferson. I like one of the Jefferson restaurants that is Four Star.. It is very pretty in that area. But, it is pretty in NC, as well. Geez, it seems I have been and lived everywhere I spent some time in Raleigh and Winston-Salem area.
The issue would appear to be "daily access." Online backup services are not set up to allow easy access to work with files (photos) whenever one wishes to do so.

No, I am not looking for an online backup service. I don't keep anything important on my computer. But, backup services seem to be all that is available. The only thing I can do, evidently, is to get a website with unlimited room for photos and videos. It sure would give me easy access to whatever I put on it. More than likely that is my only option.
I didn't realize that these companies like Carbonite only offer backup.
