Extension tube question

If I buy a set of extension tubes for my Sigma 105, would I get the same image from farther away or do I need to get closer to the subject (or neither)?

When your Sigma 105-mm macro lens is set to Minimum Focusing Distance, the Working Distance (lens front element to subject) is about 6.2-inches to acheive 1:1 magnification (life-size). When you add 68-mm of extension tubes at MFD, your WD is cut in half (about 3.1-inches) and you will capture 2:1 mag (2x life-size).

A typical set of auto-extension tubes are 12-mm + 20-mm + 36-mm = 68-mm total.
